Visits by Vice-Chancellor Led Team

Community Engagement Division (CED)@ the Office of the Vice Chancellor organised a three-day visit in Province 2 (24-26, July 2021) and Kamalamai Municipality (26-27, July, 2021) led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Bhola Thapa and accompanied by the School of Engineering Dean Professor Dr Manish Pokharel, and the CED Advisor Professor Dr Bal Chandra Luitel. In Province 2, the KU team met the province chief, provincial ministers, secretaries, VCs of Rajarshi Janak University and Madhesh Health Science Institute, Mayor, and Ward Chairs of Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan City, Headteachers and Teachers, and other dignitaries.  The high officials agreed that they shall prioritise partnerships and collaborations with KU in areas of:

  • technical and vocational teacher development,
  • faculty development for the academy and the new University, 
  • teachers training for schools,
  • institution building, etc.  

In Kamalamai Municipality, the Vice Chancellor and the team was briefed about the ongoing activities by the Mayor and the municipality officials. A brief discussion was held about the effective implementation of the collaborative activities. The Vice Chancellor committed that Kathmandu University shall 

  • place high priority the collaboration between the community and the University, and  
  • emphasise the two-way supports for the enhancement of educational activities in the Municipality. 

In the afternoon the KU team visited the Sindhuli Community Technical Institute (SCTI) and observed the facilities of the Institute in a view to the running of the B Tech Ed program in the partnership of KU and SCTI. The SCTI Board Members, instructors, and staff members were briefed about the available facilities and the prospects of the Institute. 

Finally, the team interacted with Sidhdha Baba Secondary School teachers and headteacher about quality education, e-learning, education as/for transformation, etc.
