MoU Signing Ceremony Between Kathmandu University and KamalaMai Municipality

A MoU signing ceremony was held between Kathmandu University, Dhulikhel, Nepal and KamalaMai Municipality, Sindhuli, Nepal at the Central Campus of Kathmandu University on 16 July, 2021.

The event was graced by the presence of  Mr. Khadga Bahadur Khatri (Mayor, KamalaMai Municipality), Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa (Vice Chancellor), Prof. Dr. Subodh Sharma (Registrar), Prof. Dr. Manish Pokharel (Dean, SOE), Prof. Dr. Bal Chandra Luitel (Advisor of Community Engagement Division, Office of the Vice Chancellor), Prof. Dr. Brijesh Adhikari (Associate Dean, SOE), Mr. Nabindra Paudel, Prof. Dr. Bibhuti Ranjan Jha, Prof. Dr. Dipak Subedi (Director, Research Development and Innovation), Mr. Kumar Baral (Finance Chief), Mr. Shankar Raj Luitel (Education Officer, Kamalamai Municipality) and Mr. Jagat Ale Magar (Education Facilitator, Kamalamai Municipality). The moderator of the event was Assistant Professor Mr. Sushil Shrestha. The event started with the welcome remarks by the Project Manager Prof. Dr. Manish Pokharel (Dean, School of Engineering of Kathmandu University). The MoU was signed between Kathmandu University and Kamalamai Municipality. Prof. Dr. Bal Chandra Luitel (Advisor of Community Engagement Division, Office of the Vice Chancellor) signed on behalf of Kathmandu University and  Mr. Khadga Bahadur Khatri (Mayor, KamalaMai Municipality) signed on behalf of Kamalamai Municipality. Mr. Shankar Raj Luitel and Mr. Jagat Ale Magar were witnesses from Municipality and Prof. Dr. Manish Pokharel was the witness from the University.

Mr. Khadga Bahadur Khatri, Mayor expressed his gratitude towards Kathmandu University. The Mayor committed to work in collaboration with the University to conduct this project.

Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa, Vice Chancellor of the Kathmandu University expressed his optimism for the future work between Kathmandu University and Kamalamai Municipality. Prof. Thapa expressed his gratitude towards IDRC, Canada and FIT-ED, Philippines for believing in our university to conduct this research.

The objectives of the MoU are as follows:

  • To develop models for adapting and implementing a Networked Improvement Communities (NIC) at scale approach for school leaders at Kamalamai Municipality.
  • To facilitate the project to establish Networked Improvement Communities (NIC) hub at Kamalamai Municipality.
  • To facilitate the project leaders by selecting school leaders throughout the project period.
